Bengal’s Srijit Mukherjee is bringing another Bengali’s popular fictional work into a web series on OTT platform, Addatimes. This year on Christmas, he will release Feluda Pherot, a series based on legendary Bengali director, Satyajit Ray’s sleuth Feluda.
The series which is coming out on Christmas contains two popular stories, which are Chhinomostar Obhishaap and Jawto Kando Kathmandute. Though there is a twist. Out of the two stories only the first one is coming out this year.
On Saturday during the web trailer launch of the series, the director talked about it, saying-
“I hope my Feluda will be accepted well by audiences. I had been an avid reader of the detective stories by Ray like every other Bengali and nursed the wish to make a film on him retaining the salient features and traits.”
While speaking on the trailer launch, the director shared his admiration for the Bengali actors he has looked up to ever since he was a child. These include Soumitra Chatterjee, Sabyasachi Chakroborty and Abir Chatterjee who have each portrayed the iconic character in Satyajit Ray and Sandip Ray’s projects.
On the other hand, in Srijit’s series actor, Tota Roychowdhury is the actor who is going to play Feluda. The actor dreamt of playing the role, which now is a fulfilled dream for him.
Chhinomostar Obhishaap the first story in the series is set in 1977. It will feature Feluda, his assistant Topshe and writer friend, Jatayu. The exciting mystery series is about a circus party, a tiger escaping and the temple of Chhinamasta in Rajrappa, Hazaribagh.
