Vidya Balan is currently at the top of her game and in life. She is acting brilliantly and her short film, Natkhat is taking her to the holy grail of Oscar glory. Natkhat has won the first prize at the Best Of India Short Film Festival 2020. This makes it eligible for an Oscar nomination, the dream of every actor.

Shawn Vyas is the film’s director which is about a mother teaching her young son, about gender equality and toxic masculinity. It premiered on Youtube during the We Are One: A Global Film Festival. Since then it has been showcased at the 2020 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, and London Indian Film Festival.

For the film, Vidya Balan became a producer for the first time. While the film’s writer is Annukampa Harsh, who also worked as a creative producer and casting director on the film.

As the film became eligible for an Oscar nomination, Vidya elated with the news shared it on Instagram. She posted a photo, writing :

“In a turbulent year, it feels great to win the first award for our film that leads the way directly to Oscar qualification. This film is incredibly close to me since it gave me a chance to play the dual roles of actor and producer.”

Natkhat’s success also included the film winning prize money of &2500 and a television broadcast opportunity deal on ShortsTV.

Lastly, Vidya was seen in Shakuntala Devi which was released on Amazon Prime. That film also became a success at the OTT platform, with Vidya gaining praise for her tremendous act in the biopic.
