While Bollywood has a number of stars today, there are very few who are considered as fine actors. And Nawazuddin Siddiqui is placed at a very high position among those few actors.

The actor has surprised us not only with his amazing performances but also with his selection of the films. He has been part of both the worlds – the mainstream commercial films like Kick and what many call as offbeat cinema like Photograph.

While many actors and stars today keep repeating they want to keep their audience happy and want to work for them, this Gangs of Wasseypur actor has surprised us here also with his utmost candidness. The actor very frankly shared that he chooses what he likes otherwise the audience wants to see only formula-based films.

“I do films for myself not for the audience. I came in this field because of my passion. One does not keep the audience in mind while acting. You only have your character and the script in your mind. The thought that if the audience would like this or not brings corruption in the work,” he said during the promotion of his upcoming film Motichoor Chaknachoor.

While stressing the point that he does not want such corruption in his work, the Manto actor admits that sometimes he fails to save himself from it.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently honoured with the prestigious Golden Dragon Award at Cardiff International Film Festival for excellence in cinema in the global arena.

He has made his presence felt in international arena with Netflix’s series Sacred Games, Ritesh Batra’s Photograph, Tannishtha Chatterjee’s Roam Rome Mein and BBC UK’s McMafia. Roam Rome Mein received an overwhelming response and won an award at its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival last month.

He is currently waiting for the release of his upcoming film Motichoor Chaknachoor that follows the story of a 36 year old man who tries to find a wife and a young girl who wants to get married to a man who works abroad so that she can also live in a foreign country.

The film stars Nawazuddin Siqqiui and Athiya Shetty in lead roles while Vibha Chibber, Navni Parihar, Vivek Mishra, Karuna Pandey, Sanjeev Vats, Abhishek Rawat, Sapna Sand and Usha Nagar will be seen in supporting roles.

The film directed by Debamitra Biswal and produced by Rajiv and Kiran Bhatia is scheduled to be released on 15 November.
