Nawazuddin Siddiqui wins Golden Dragon Award at Cardiff International Film Festival

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is considered as one of the finest actors in Hindi film industry today. Starting with small roles in films to playing substantial characters in critically as well as commercially successful films, he has come a long way.

While the actor has received wide acclaim in Bollywood, he was recently honoured at Cardiff International Film Festival. He was bestowed with the prestigious Golden Dragon Award at the festival for excellence in cinema in the global arena.

The Gangs of Wasseypur actor was presented the award by counsel general of Wales, UK, Mick Antoniw, on Sunday at an event in Cardiff.

Hollywood legend Judi Dench was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the ceremony.

Nawazuddin took to his social media account to share the news with his fans and wrote, “Congratulations #DameJudiDench on receiving the Lifetime Achievement award, Thank You Mr. @MickAntoniw1 the Counsel General of Wales,UK & “Cardiff International Film Festival” for bestowing me with the prestigious Golden Dragon Award.”

The CIFF also shared Nawaz’s tweet and wrote, “It was a pleasure having  @Nawazuddin_S at #CIFF2019, you truly reflect where the future of Indian cinema is heading. With 8 @Festival_Cannes nominations and 2  @TheEmmys nominations there is no one as deserving as you to receive #GoldDragon award at @CIFF_Official 2019”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has made his presence felt in international arena with Netflix’s series Sacred Games, Ritesh Batra’s Photograph, Tannishtha Chatterjee’s Roam Rome Mein and BBC UK’s McMafia.

In Bollywood, Nawazuddin is currently awaiting the release of his next film Motichoor Chaknachoor that follows the story of a 36 year old man who is looking for a wife and a young girl who wants to get married to a man who works abroad so that she can also live in a foreign country.

The film stars Nawazuddin Siqqiui and Athiya Shetty in lead roles while Vibha Chibber, Navni Parihar, Vivek Mishra, Karuna Pandey, Sanjeev Vats, Abhishek Rawat, Sapna Sand and Usha Nagar will be seen in supporting roles.

The film directed by Debamitra Biswal and produced by Rajiv and Kiran Bhatia is scheduled to be released on 15 November this year.
