Neena Gupta is a popular actress in Indian commercial cinema. She made her career on television with the 1985 show “Khandaan”. Later she did many shows like Yatra, Gulzar’s Mirza Ghalib, Shyam Benegal’s Bharat Ek Khoj, Dard, Gumraah, Saans, Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, Chitthi, Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin, and Kitani Mohabbat Hai. She rose the popularity from her famous show titled “Saans”, which was written and directed by television actress Neena Gupta alongside television actor Kanwaljit Singh. The series premiered on STAR Plus in 1998. The story of the show focuses on the love triangle between the characters Priya, Gautam, and Manisha. She even won the best director award for her show “Saans’ and Kanwaljit Singh won the ‘Best Actor’ award for the role of Gautam.
Recently, Neena started her followers on social media after she posted, “I live in Mumbai and working, am a good actor looking for good parts to play (sic).” As soon as she posted the post went viral. According to the reports, Neena is planning to revive her popular show “Saans”, which was written and directed by her, On this Neena said, “Talks are on, but I am not at liberty to divulge more. All I can say is that the story will revolve around three generations of women. I will try to retain as many actors from the original cast as possible, provided they fit in our budget. Kanwaljit will definitely be a part of the show.” Moreover, she said, “I have never followed suit and will not do that even now. I will do what I feel like. Also, TV today is a reflection of our society. Where has our society progressed? It’s still the same. I have seen young brides being ill-treated by their mothers-in-law. When I asked a girl why she was not retaliating against her mother-in-law’s unreasonable behaviour, her reply was, ‘It’s supposed to be like that’. Why wouldn’t such shows work then?”
