Sacred Games, scheduled to be the first ever Indian original series on Netflix, has finally released its final trailer prior to the official release of its first season on the 6th of June. The show, based directly upon a 2006 novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra, follows the life of Sartaj Singh, a Mumbai police officer portrayed by Saif Ali Khan, who has been chasing after Ganesh Gaitonde, a supreme crime lord portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has been suffering from god-complex to a long while now.

This latest trailer delved deeper into the dramatic life of Sartaj who had recently been overwhelmed due to receiving a call from an unknown number, threatening him of everybody’s demise over the phone. Sartaj was shown then relaying the threat and the hidden message of the call in front of all his superiors in the police. The scene, however, took an abrupt turn at plot twist road as Sartaj Singh was suddenly shown to have been suspended from the post, resulting in a complete handover of his badge and weapons. The following seconds of the trailer consist of seemingly unrelated montages of Ganesh Gaitonde losing himself in powerful and ecstatic moments where he still believes himself to be akin to God.

As the final shot ends with Ganesh and Satraj indulging in a direct physical confrontation, many prospective viewers found themselves correlating the feel of Sacred Games to that of another famous Netflix drama called Narcos. Nevertheless, Sacred Games has succeeded in making an impression in the minds of everyone who watched the two teasers in quick succession. The first season, consisting of eight episodes directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, are scheduled for a pilot release on the 6th of July, 2018.
