After 4 and a half years of Netflix, the user interface is finally available in Hindi.
Netflix says that every part of it — including sign-up, title names, search, and payment — is now available in the Hindi language across all apps and devices, be it mobile, computers, or on TV. You can switch to Hindi under Manage Profiles > Language on the Netflix website. Language settings are profile-specific, so you don’t have to worry about it affecting other members on the same Netflix account.
The option of Hindi language will not only be available in India but across all the nations. Netflix currently supports 26 languages in which you can see its interface.
Netflix India’s VP of content Monica Shergill said “Delivering a great Netflix experience is as important to us as creating great content,”
Netflix has provided quality content since its beginning. This feature would be great for people in India where the first preference will obviously be Hindi.
Only about 10% of India’s 1.3 billion people know English. This move would affect Netflix’s competitors Hotstar and Prime Video. They don’t have such support for now. Amazon’s shopping app has Hindi interface.
Many tech giants have already rolled out this feature because they know how huge the market in India is.
Last year, Netflix said it had earmarked 420 million US dollars for producing and licensing content in India by the end of 2020.
The only major problem for Netflix would be providing the best deal for users in terms of money. They recently launched a 200rs per month plan for mobile devices only.
Compared to Prime Video and Hotstar, Netflix is a bit costly but such minute changes like adding support for the most used language can affect the sales drastically.
