One Mic Stand: Taapsee Pannu’s stand up bit in this Amazon Prime show is a laugh ride

2019 has been a great year for actress Taapsee Pannu with several back to back films doing well critically and commercially.

She recently appeared on the comedy series ‘One Mic Stand’ for Amazon Prime Video, where she did a stand up comedy.

The ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ actress performed a stand up comedy for the first on the show and simply nailed it. She was mentored by comedian Angad Singh Ranyal.

She talked about weird fans, social media trolls and strange awards given in Bollywood. Despite doing it for the first time, Taapsee does it effortlessly.

‘One Mic Stand’ also features stand up bits by politician Shashi Tharoor, YouTuber Bhuvan Bam and actress Richa Chaddha who were mentored by professional comedians. It premiered on 15 November on the online streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.

On the acting front, Taapsee has been receiving praises for her performance as an old age sharpshooter in ‘Saand Ki Aankh.’

Directed by Tushar Hiranandani and co-starring Bhumi Pednekar, the film was released on 25 October and met with critical acclaim. It also became a moderate financial success.

Taapsee’s earlier release of this year were the drama ‘Mission Mangal’ and the suspense thriller’s ‘Badla’ and ‘Game Over’. All the three were critical and commercial successes.

She has recently finished filming for Anubhav Sinha’s female-centric flick ‘Thappad’, co-starring Dia Mirza and Pavail Gulati. It will release on 6 March next year.
