A still from Talvar

One case which shocked the whole nation was the Arohi Talwar Murder case which even after several police and CBI investigations didn’t reach the right conclusion. Various angles were probed by law which was highly essayed on media platforms. It has been more than twelve years now and today we will be taking a look at two of the Bollywood movies which were based on this murder trial.

The Hindi film industry didn’t shy away from taking this case as a subject for the film. The two films were Talvar and Rahasya which released in 2015 each with a gap of several months. Comparing these two films, Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Talvar’ was quite on a perfect side and did justice to the story, it was neither sensationalized and successfully provided great insight of each and every character of the story.

A still from Rahasya

The other one ‘Rahasya’ written and directed by Manish Gupta tried it’s best to portray this real story but the film lacked authenticity but was great when it comes to acting performances. Both the films were open-ended but the viewers were intrigued by the way of storytelling and admired these artworks.

Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer Talvar were appreciated by the mass audience for its various viewpoints on the story and its highlight was Irrfan’s character of a CBI officer whose past goes parallel with the plot making the audience well aware of the complex nature of human relationships. The film perfectly highlighted the conspiracy created by various political elements and the powerhouses. Kay Kay Menon and Tisca Chopra starrer Rahasya went ahead and tried to clear speculations around the reports of this murder case.

Overall, both the films were best in their way to portray this real story. A must watch if you haven’t yet.
