One Republic, the American pop-rock band that has a huge fan following in India, paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Avicii, at their debut show in Mumbai last weekend.  Swedish DJ Tim Bergling, better known by his stage name Avicii, passed away in Oman on Friday, 20th April.

While fans were grieving his demise, some of them still managed to show up at The National Sports Club of India, Mumbai, where One Republic were supposed to hold their maiden performance in India.

The Grammy-nominated quintet, comprising of lead vocalist Ryan Tedder, guitarist Zach Filkins, guitarist Drew Brown, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher, delivered a mesmerizing cover of Avicii’s 2013 hit ‘Wake Me Up’, as a mark of respect to the late musician.

Known worldwide for their smash hits like ‘Counting Stars’, ‘Apologize’, and ‘Secrets’, the pop-rock band left the citizens of Mumbai enthralled with their maiden act, and Ryan Tedder expressed his desire to return to India sometime soon with a new album.
