It seems like Padmaavat team is being flooded with reasons to celebrate. After its humongous box office business, plentitude of appreciation to its actors and vast support from the fraternity, the Karni Sena has also let the movie off the hook.

Yogendra Singh Katar who is Mumbai’s leader of Shri Rajput Karni Sena stated that on orders of the organisation’s president, some members watched the movie on Friday and found nothing objectionable in the movie. He in fact reasserted that the movie valorises Rajputs and their sacrifice and is nothing but a glorification of their community. Well, better late than never!

The whole fiasco began when the Karni Sena, without even watching the movie, claimed that it “distorts” historical facts and presents Rani Padmini in poor light that would hurt the sentiments of the Rajputs. It lead to extreme hooliganism by the members of the Sena at prominent places in the country, also costing the movie a lot of screens at places like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.

The Karni Sena that demanded a ban on the movie has now declared in a letter that they would help the administration to let the movie release throughout the country.

We can only hope for better timed judgements and a responsible approach from such organisations in the future but as of now, all’s well that ends well.
