Padmavaat have been in the news for quite sometime and finally got released on 26th January 2018. Padmavaat is a larger than life film like the any another Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie.

Amidst all the controversy of Karni Sena, the movie still managed to draw the interests of the audience even with all the cuts and evading death threats. Padmavaat is based on a Sufi poem of the same name written by Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540 AD mixed with some vivid imaginative work from Bhansali. The story revolves around three main characters namely Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), Maharaja Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and finally, Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh).

The main attraction of the movie undoubtedly has to be Ranveer Singh. His portrayal of the beastly, scarred face, immoral tyrant of the Delhi Sultan truly stands out. Deepika Padukone’s various acting skills come to play in the second half when Alauddin comes into the picture. Among the three actors, Shahid Kapoor’s performance level has to be the weakest. Overall, the movie has some high points and some lows but mostly, if you’re looking for a good movie for this weekend, this movie won’t disappoint you.
