Padmavati‘ is an upcoming Indian period drama film. The movie which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The movie features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, alongside Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh and Aditi Rao Hydari. According to the recent reports, movie ‘Padmavati’ has been postponed.

Bollywood Trade Analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted on his Twitter account related to the release date of the movie that it might be pushed ahead to April 2018. He said, “Hearing @RanveerOfficial – @deepikapadukone – @shahidkapoor ‘s #Padmavati ‘s release postponed to Apr’18… Official Confirmation awaited..”

The movie “Padmavati” will be based on the life of the legendary queen Rani Padmini, which mentioned as a Padmavat. She was a wife of the ruler of Mewar Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. In 1303, the Turkic ruler of the Delhi Alauddin Khilji laid siege to the Chittor Fort in Rajputana. Alauddin invasion motivated him to capture Rani Padmini.

In the movie, Deepika Padukone will be portraying the role of a Rani Padmini, where Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing her on-screen husband and Ranveer Singh will be portraying the role of an Alauddin Khilji.

Before its release, the movie has already created a lot of buzz in the Bollywood town, but on this Shahid said that the film did not have anything objectionable and was made with ‘good’ intention. Earlier, when the director of the film was attacked by the certain group of people for alleged distortion of history over the depiction of Queen Padmavati. When asked if certain scenes have been cut post that, Shahid says, “According to me, I have not shot any scene which has been changed. I think there were a lot of presumptions about the film, and people were presuming there were (certain) things in the film. The clarification has been given that those things are not in the film. I hope when people see the film, they realise that the heart of the film and intent of the film is very good.”

This is the first time when Shahid Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are working together and Shahid is thrilled to work with the director. While Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Goliyon ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela’, and ‘Bajirao Mastaani’.
