The trailer of Panipat which was released two days ago has received huge appreciation from the film fraternity. The video promises a grandeur and compelling storytelling on the big screen.

Now, the makers of the upcoming historical period drama have released a new poster of the film today. The poster introduces actor Mohnish Bahl as “Nana Saheb Peshwa”.

Arjun Kapoor who is playing Sadashiv Rao Bhau, the Senapati (commander-in-chief) of Maratha Army at the Third Battle of Panipat took to his social media account to share the poster. He captioned the post as “Nana Saheb Peshwa – A King is governed by the blood running through his veins. #PanipatLook #Panipat #Dec6”

Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum opus period drama is based on the Third Battle of Panipat that took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat between a northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali.

The Maratha warriors were defeated in the battle which is considered as one of the largest and most eventful fought battles in the 18th century. Abdali was supported by two Indian allies— the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh.

True to Ashutosh Gowariker’s style of filmmaking, the trailer looked grand and convincing. However, people have been pointing out resemblance of the film with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani as well as Padmaavat.

The film features Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles while Padmini Kolhapure, Mohnish Bahl and Zeenat Aman also appear in pivotal roles. Sanjay Dutt plays the Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali while Kriti Sanon appears as Parvati Bai, wife of Sadashiv Rao Bhau played by Arjun Kapoor.

Produced by Sunita Gowariker under her banner AGPPL in association with Rohit Shelatkar’s company, Vision World, Panipat is slated to hit the cinema halls on 6 December this year.
