After releasing the film’s poster earlier today and the first look posters yesterday, the makers of the upcoming historical period drama film Panipat have finally launched the trailer of the film which makes it look grandeur and compelling.

This glimpse into the magnificent saga only increases your desire for more. Arjun Kapoor as  Sadashiv Rao Bhau, the Senapati (commander-in-chief) of Maratha Army at the Third Battle of Panipat looks fearless and determined to save his mother land. On the other hand, Sanjay Dutt looks all fierce, tough, and menacing as the Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali  who founded the Durrani empire. Kriti Sanon fits the bill as Parvati Bai, wife of Sadashiv Rao Bhau perfectly.

While the trailer shows the men wielding off swords on the battle field, Parvati Bai also joins his husband and shows us sword fighting moves. The trailer also features Mohnish Bahl, Padmini Kohkapure and Zeenat Aman. The latter has a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance without any dialogues.

True to Ashutosh Gowariker’s style of filmmaking, the trailer looks grand and convincing. However, one cannot help recalling a few scenes from Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani.

Arjun Kapoor took to his social media account to share the trailer and wrote, “Presenting the #PanipatTrailer – The Battle That Changed History. Releasing Dec 6.”

The magnum opus period drama is based on the Third Battle of Panipat that took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat between a northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali.

The Maratha warriors were defeated in the battle which is considered as one of the largest and most eventful fought battles in the 18th century. Abdali was supported by two Indian allies— the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab, and Shuja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh.

Produced by Sunita Gowariker under her banner AGPPL in association with Rohit Shelatkar’s company, Vision World, Panipat is slated to hit the cinema halls on 6 December this year.
