The Los Angeles Film Critics Association revealed their list of best from the films in 2019.

The South Korean comedy thriller Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-ho, was named as the Best Picture, while Joon-ho was also named as the Best Director. 

Earlier this year, Parasite had been voted Best Picture by the New York Film Critics Online, while Joon-ho was named as the Best Director and also received honors for Best Screenplay.

Netflix’s epic crime film The Irishman was named as the best runner-up film at the L.A Film Critics, with Martin Scorsese named as the runner-up director. 

Antonio Banderas was named as the Best Actor for his role in Pain and Glory, while Mary Kay Place was voted the Best Actress for Diane. Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong’o were the runner-ups for the acting prize.

Song Kang Ho for Parasite and Jennifer Lopez for Hustlers, were named the Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively. 

The French film I Lost My Body won in the Best Animation category while Pain and Glory in the Foreign Language category.

Noah Baumach was given the Best Screenplay award for Marriage Story, Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar’s American Factory was chosen as the Best Documentary. Todd Douglas Miller won for Best Editing (Apollo 11), Barbara Ling for Best Production Design (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Dan Levy for Best Score (I Lost My Body) and Claire Mathon for Best Cinematography (Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Atlantics).
