Parineeti Chopra has replaced Shraddha Kapoor in the biopic of badminton star Saina Nehwal. The former had to drop out of the film due to her over scheduling conflicts. Shraddha has even undergone badminton training with coach and co-star Eshan Naqvi.

Shraddha started working for the film last year in September but she was always occupied with something else since the beginning. After healing from dengue she got busy with the shooting of ‘Saaho‘ and ‘Street Dancer 3D‘. She was supposed to join the team again in April but now the Bhushan Kumar Production has decided to go ahead with Parineeti Chopra.

A source informed the daily, “Despite everyone’s best efforts to accommodate the Saina biopic, dates were clashing, so it made sense for Shraddha to opt out. The decision was taken by mutual consent. Meanwhile, Parineeti loved the script and will start prep soon.”

Producer Bhushan Kumar also confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror saying, “We want to wrap up Saina by this year-end for an early 2020 release, so going ahead with the project is a decision taken by mutual consent. We are glad Parineeti has come on board for the film. Saina has made every Indian proud and we can’t wait to take her story to the world in the year of the Olympics.”

On a good node, Shraddha’s exit turned out to be a boon for Parineeti as she always wanted to a sports-based film. “It’s a part of my personality, but as an actress, one that I have not explored so far. I’m delighted to get an opportunity to portray a strong and powerful girl like Saina who put our country on the world map. I am excited to put in all the training and hard work that comes with learning the game and portraying Saina on screen,” Parineeti told Mirror.
