Anushka Sharma is on cloud nine after the success of her newly released show ‘Paatal Lok’ on Amazon Prime. The crime drama contains 9 episodes. It stars Jaideep Ahlawat in the lead role of a cop who is investigating murder plan of a top journalist.
Critics, fans and industry members are raving about the show because of its immersive storyline and stellar performances. Many are even hailing it as the best Indian show streaming on digital platform.
Speaking about the speculation that the show will witness a second season after its success, Anushka in an interview said “You have to wait and watch to know more about season two. I don’t want to divulge too much but let’s just say it’s quite possible. It’s too early to talk about it but yes if Amazon is willing to do it, definitely there will be a second season.”
Created by Sudip Sharma, who wrote Anushka’s debut film as a producer ‘NH10’ the success of the show has enhanced their trust towards each other. The actor praised the writer and said this about their collaboration together : “Sudip’s first film as a writer was NH10′. So we go back a long way and he’s like a brother to me. I believe in everything he writes because he is such an economical writer. He is somebody who will tell you the most complicated things in the simplest manner and most entertaining fashion and I think that is his greatest strength as a writer.”
Anushka through her production house Clean Slate Filmz has been pushing boundaries with the debut film of the company ‘NH10’. Since then she has produced films like the fantasy comedy ‘Phillauri’ and horror thriller ‘Pari’. ‘Pataal lok’ follows the company’s commitment of telling unique stories. Anushka says that the type of content they are creating is the vision she envisions.
On her choice of content the actor-producer said it is a deliberate choice. She further signified the importance of OTT platforms and their need. She said “As a creative individual, you understand that the process of creativity should be a free-flowing. So what the OTT platforms do is that they allow you to express yourself in a way that is true to the story that you are trying to say and you can remain true to it.”
‘Pataal lok’ is currently streaming on Prime and besides Jaideep Ahlawat stars Neeraj Kabi and Swastika Mukherjee.
