Tamil Box Office is witnessing the biggest clash of all times, between Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta‘ and Thala Ajith’s ‘Viswasam‘. Both the films were released on the festival of Pongal on January 10. While ‘Visvasam’ is ahead in the race in Tamil Nadu, ‘Petta’ is leading the worldwide box office.
‘Petta’ is running in three languages – Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, while ‘Viswasam’ is playing in only Tamil.
According to the reports, the worldwide box office collection of ‘Petta’ ₹125.80 crores gross with ₹40 crores from the overseas market and ₹62 crores at Tamil Nadu box office. While ‘Viswasam’ has collected ₹109.30 crores worldwide, with Rs 24 crore from the overseas market and Rs 74 crore at Tamil Nadu box office.

However, the opening day was a disappointment for the Rajinikanth’s fans. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared an interesting fact on his twitter account about Rajinikanth being second 27 years ago.

The Rajinikanth starrer has managed to collect ₹ 18 crores across the nation and the Ajith starrer just 2 crores behind it with ₹ 16.25 crore net across India. But the Tamil Nadu box office collection is slightly different from that of India’s. ‘Viswasam’ has become the seventh top net opening day collectors in Tamil Nadu with ₹ 13.50 crores and ‘Petta’ is standing at 14th in the list with ₹ 11 crores approx.
