Eros Now’s original web series “Modi: The Journey Of A Common Man” based on the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will have a poem penned by PM Modi himself. The director has acquired permission to use the poem, which will be presented as a song.

“When we were researching on our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we came across beautifully written, thought-provoking poems written by him and felt that we must use one of his poems,” the series’ director Umesh Shukla said in a statement.

“So we used the poem ‘Shyam Ke Rogan Lele’ and it has turned to be a hummable song.”

A few days ago, Movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first look of the series and wrote, “Now a 10-part *web series* on PM Narendra Modi… Eros Now and Benchmark Pictures [Umesh Shukla and Ashish Wagh] to produce the biopic… Titled #Modi… Directed by Umesh Shukla [who directed #OhMyGod and #102NotOut]… Premieres in April 2019 on Eros Now.”

“The PM’s story is the biggest star. If we cast a known face, the viewer will not connect with the story and will search for the actor. So, we have cast good actors, instead,” he says of the project that was “silently” under works for a year-and-a-half,” Umesh Shukla told Mid Day.

“I’m interested in his personality. He has an amazing sense of humor, which few know about. He also has a deep interest in spirituality, not religion. The show follows his childhood and youth, the factors that influenced him, the way he was before, and how he emerged to be the person he is today. It concludes with him taking oath as the prime minister of India. We have started shooting in rural Gujarat, and are currently filming portions involving his youth, spent in Siddhpur and Vadnagar,” he added.

The series will premier on the digital platform in April 2019.
