The biopic on Gunjan Saxena, first Indian female helicopter pilot went on floors last month. In the movie actress, Janhvi Kapoor will essay the role of Gunjan Saxena with Angad Bedi joining the cast as her brother, Anshuman. The biopic is titled ‘Kargil Girl’, helmed by debutant director Sharan Sharma. The reel life brother-sister duo is currently shooting in Nirala Nagar, Lucknow, where they danced on the hit Ram-Lakhan song, ‘one two ka four’. Recently, ace actor Pankaj Tripathi has joined the cast around 10 days ago.
The actor confirmed the news and said, “It’s an important story that needs to be told. When Sharan narrated the script to me, I immediately agreed to be a part of it. My role is integral to the story and I found a human connect, which is an important criterion for me to sign a film.”
The National-award winning actor praised the newbie who will essay her reel life daughter, Gunjan Saxena. Janhvi Kapoor plays the role of India’s first female pilot who was posted in Kargil and who helped in evacuation of Indian soldiers during Kargil war 1999. Gunjan was the first female who was feted with the Shaurya Chakra, an award presented for the act of courage, valor, and self-sacrifice.
”Janhvi is sincere, warm and extremely hard-working. She has prepped a lot for the film and we did a couple of readings together before shooting began,” Pankaj added.
As a part of his research, the Pankaj Tripathi met Ansul Saxena, “Sharan has researched a lot so most of the required information was available to us. Meeting Mr. Saxena was a great experience. I won’t be imitating him in the film as for me, it’s important to get the essence of the man right,” actor concluded.
