Prasoon Joshi demands time for 'Padmavati'!

The Chief of the Central Board of Film Certification, Prasoon Joshi said that the board is trying hard to come up with a balanced decision about the movie ‘Padmavati‘. But for that Prasoon demanded an adequate space and time to do that.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming Indian period drama movie ‘Padmavati’ is the first major problem that Prasoon Joshi faces since he has been appointed as a Chief of the Central Board of Film Certification. The central Board asks for 68 days for the proper certification process of a movie ‘Padmavati’ and the reason behind this because they wanted the more time if a situation like ‘Padmavati’ comes up.

They demanded time because they need to understand that the Board must take a balanced decision. Moreover, he says that the whole situation was not created by the Central Board of Film Certification. There are some people who are protesting on the roads and he says that it has nothing to do with the protests. The more convenient way is to show the movie to the media houses and in return, they can get their reviews done but they want that the CBFC should deliver a fair and a well-thought-out decision.

However, the censor board returned the applications to the makers of the movie by citing the technical issues and after that protests erupted over the magnum opus on the queen Rani Padmini. There are various politicians along with the Rajput groups and they all are accusing that the maker of the movie has distorted the historical facts. They believe that the maker has shown a dream sequence in the movie which is between Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji.

The board is not asking much time and they usually certify the movie before 68 days, but they have asked the time so that when there are situations like this happens in the future then they should be having a time and he says that this is not something new. This has been with the CBFC for years and if there are those who do not want to see this then it is their decision.

Prasoon says that he respects the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali a lot and as being a member of the film fraternity he understands him. However, he feels that the whole issue is not related to Bhansali it is related to the movie ‘Padmavati’. It is all about the controversy over the movie. If one wants the certification to happen then he says that everyone needs to have patience

He says that right now there are many people who are having anxiety, eagerness, aggression and they are impatient and that needs to end. Unless they will end it they will not be doing any justice to the CBFC because the situation has not been created by them. If one expects the fair result then they should give CBFC time, space and a state of mind so that they can take a fair decision. He is requesting this from everyone whoever is involved in this matter. However, he condemned any sort of violence but respected people’s feelings.
