More women working in film industry definitely helps: Radhika Apte

The Indian film and stage actress Radhika Apte says that more women working in the film industry will definitely be going to help the Hindi film industry. Radhika began her acting career in theatres before venturing into the movies. She made her acting debut in 2005 with the movie titled ‘Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi!. She got her first starring role in 2009 with a Bengali social drama ‘ Antaheen’. She made her debut in the Marathi films in 2009 with the romance movie titled “Samaantar”. She got a break in Bollywood with the 2015 thriller movie “Badlapur”, which was directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan. Later, she appeared in the two blockbuster movies, one which is a Marathi thriller Lai Bhaari in 2014 and second is the Tamil gangster drama Kabali in 2016.

Actress Radhika Apte feels good that more women are working in the Hindi film industry in various positions, which has resulted in more female-driven films and that is actually a great trend. Films like ‘Mom’, ‘Parched’, and ‘Pink’, in which women can be seen in a central character. On this Radhika said, “There were subject films even earlier too, but more women working in the industry as writers and directors has definitely helped.”

Radhika herself portrayed strong roles in the films like ‘Parched’, ‘Phobia’ and much more. She believes that there is no point in leading a life without challenges. She said, “You need to explore whatever you are doing. I do different kinds of roles to get some creative satisfaction. There is no point if you are not taking up challenges.”

Recently, she was seen walking the ramp on the third day of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/ Festive 2017 for the Sailesh Singhania, a Hyderabad-based handloom designer Sailesh Singhania. The designer which has showcased his exclusive collection themed as “The Winter Rose”, which was inspired by the Westernised interpretation of the sari usually worn by princesses, including Maharani Gayatri Devi.

The collection has handwoven textiles in colours that have celebrated festive winters with ruby red, celebratory orange, royal purple, fuchsia pink, emerald green and all of that have a luxurious vintage gold zari work.

About her ramp experience, she said, “I find it very scary Firstly as I am not used to of it. I was stressed too.”
