The much-awaited biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt will release as scheduled in March 2018, said director Rajkumar Hirani in response to rumours that the film will clash with Salman Khan’s movie on Eid next year.

Denying the buzz about a possible date shift for the film’s release, Hirani said in a statement, ” All these are baseless rumours. The film will release as per schedule in March 2018.”

It features Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist of the movie who will be seen donning six different looks in the film. Vicky Kaushal will play the role of Ranbir Kapoor‘s friend. The biopic also stars Sonam KapoorAnushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Karishma Tanna, Dia Mirza and Jim Sarbh.

The film will focus on Sanjay Dutt’s formative years, his relationship with his father Sunil Dutt and his struggles coping up with his affairs and the loss of his mother. Actress Dia Mirza will feature as Maanyata Dutt, Sanjay Dutt’s wife in the film. Manisha Koirala will be seen portraying the role of Nargis Dutt and Paresh Rawal will be playing the role of Sunil Dutt.

It is locked for release on March 30 next year. There is immense anticipation regarding Hirani’s directorial as he is turning to the cameras after his blockbuster hit ‘PK’.

The biographical drama, written and directed by Hirani, is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and is part of a three-film deal signed by Fox Star Studios with Hirani and Chopra.
