Rajkummar won the award for the movie 'Newton'

On Thursday, Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao won the best actor award for the movie ‘Newton‘ at Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Brisbane. While Mayank Tewari and Amit V. Masurkar claimed best screenplay honor and the Manipuri movie with a title ‘Lady of the Lake’ won the special mention.

Yesterday, actor Rajkummar after winning the award tweeted on his Twitter account along with that he posted a photograph in which he can be seen wearing a black bandhgala and kissing the trophy. He captions the photograph by saying, “Won the best actor award at the most prestigious APSA 2017. Thank you, Maa. Thank you team ‘Newton’. Don’t stop chasing your dreams because they really do come true.”

The name of all the winners was updated on the event’s Twitter handle and that gave us the glimpse into the Rajkummar’s acceptance speech. Rajkummar says that we should all keep doing this beautiful work and we should continue making this beautiful stories. He even thanked his late mother for blessing him with the movie like ‘Newton’.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and actor Manjoy Bajpayee congratulated the actor for the amazing performance he did in the movie ‘Newton’. They even congratulated Mayank Tewari and Amit Masukar. They got an award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and that is a huge achievement and they have made the whole nation proud. Actor Rajkummar Rao has worked along with the filmmaker Hansal Mehta multiple times.

The movie ‘Newton’ is India’s official entry in the foreign language film category at the Academy Award 2018. The movie ‘ Newton’ was directed by Amit Masukar and was produced by Drishyam Films. The movie basically revolves around the young government clerk and he is sent on an election duty to a Maoist-controlled town and the story shows that how the ideological struggle put him in an awkward situation.

Manipuri movie titled ‘Lady of the Lake’, was directed by Haobam Paban Kumar and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards awarded with the special mention for the cultural diversity award and that is under the patronage of Unesco. The award represents the shared common goals at the ASPA and Unesco, just to promote the diversity of cultural expression and to raise the awareness of the value of culture at the local, national and international levels.

Shehnad Jalal was having a chance in APSA’s achievement in the cinematography category for the movie Lady of the Lake, but she has lost it to a Russian movie. However, director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan was also nominated for the achievement in the directing category for his Malayalam movie titled ‘S Durga’. The movie was in the news that the movie got excluded from the Indian Panorama section of the ongoing 48th International Film Festival in Goa. An Australian movie ‘Sweet Country’ which was directed by Warwick Thornton was named the best film, while Russia’s Andrey Zvyagintsev was named best director for the movie title ‘Loveless’.
