Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra says that his upcoming movie ‘Mere Pyaare Prime Minister‘ is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi. His upcoming movie will be based on the story of a mother-son relationship and the movie will teach us about hope and be taking charge of a situation.
Recently, at the RISE Summit, Rakeysh Mehra spoke about his upcoming movie and issue of sanitation, which he has been helping to tackle since last four years. He has even associated with an NGO, which deals with the problem of sanitation. He says that when it comes to movie making entertainment is the one which brings the people in, but his main motive is to bring the cinema along with the entertainment. His upcoming movie ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’ was shot in Mumbai and his set is being called ‘Gandhinagar’.
Moreover, he said that there are many few people knows that Mahatma Gandhi was a warrior on the sanitation issues. Rakyesh said that what attracted him the most to make the movie on this subject of sanitation is “when you gotta go you gotta go”. He is also been associated with Yuva Unstoppable NGO and they are working towards building toilets in the slum areas and municipal schools.
He said that being from Bollywood have actually opened some doors for him and he said that you have to guard yourself against those people associating with you for the wrong reasons. He was felicitated as a RISE Citizen along with the Swaroop Rawal, whose role of drama is enhancing life skills in children with specific learning difficulties in a Mumbai schools.
Talking about his upcoming movie ‘Mere Pyare Prime Minister’, which is based on a single mother, whose eight-year-old son wants to make a toilet for her because he is really concerned about her mother’s safety when she goes out to defecate in the middle of the night, every night like lakhs of women do in India. He found a solution to this problem is that he writes a letter to the Prime Minister of India and comes to Delhi with his two friends to deliver him the letter and get the toilet made. Rakyesh upcoming movie is based on the story of hope and inspiration. The movie will be based on the story of doing something about the situation that is around you rather than simply talking about the situation. Moreover. it is a story about taking responsibilities onto yourself rather than looking at the government for answers every time and pointing a figure at them.
