Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has set his own trend in making movies. Merging the past and the present has become his trademark move when it comes to his movies. Rang de Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag are a proof to his style and Mirzya, the latest movie to come out of his direction, is no different.

Mirzya, a movie inspired from a folklore about Mirzya and Sahibaan and their love story, is set to hit the theaters on the 7th of October 2016.

This is what the creator of this movie had to say:

“Mirzya is a folklore, not history; so there is nothing real about it. The coolest thing about folklore is that there are so many versions and interpretations by writers across generations. You’ll feel like you’re watching a Shakespearean drama. It’s not a period film. The stories — one belongs to a different century and the other is set in today’s times — run parallel. The present picks up where the folklore leaves you. Finally, both of them merge, the lines blur and they become one.”

The statement by the director doesn’t fail to leave an excitement among the fans waiting for this movie. For sure, this would be one of the classics by the director who has entertained the fans with the likes of Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Stay tuned for future updates.
