Director Kabir Khan has finally stated that the digital premiere for his much-awaited film ’83 . He stated that the movie will not be released online, it will have a theatrical release.

Due to the current situation of lockdown, the makers made an announcement on March 20 that the re;ease date of the film has been postponed. There was a news which reported that a big OTT platform would be offering a total corpus of Rs 143 crore to the film makers.

Speaking upon the film,  Kabir has said that 83 is a film which has been envisioned and can be much better to be experienced on the big screen and we are waiting eagerly for the situation to get better so that we can release it in the cinema hall.

The movie is starring Ranveer as skipper Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone as his wife. 83 has been made on India’s cricket world cup in the year 1983. The film has been presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Kabir Khan, Madhu Mantena and Vishnu Induri.

Earlier, as per the news agency PTI, Shibashish Sarkar  who is the Reliance Entertainment Group CEO stated that team ’83 is looking forward for theatrical release. Making statement about the digital release reports, he stated to PTI: “There is no truth in this. As producers and even the director, we all are waiting and looking forward for theatrical release for next few months. At the first step we will be completing the film then we will wait. If situation becomes much worse after six or nine months, then we will take a call at that time.”

In addition to this he also stated that “We are not in the situation of rush. Every individual has shown some or the other interest in this project, but we are not engaging in any discussion for a straight to digital release currently”.
