Director R.S. Prasanna is all set to make his Bollywood debut with the upcoming Bollywood drama movie titled “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan“. Prasanna says that Bollywood has always encouraged the experimental subjects. The movie features Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role.The movie is produced by Aanand L Rai.
Prasanna is making a Bollywood debut with his upcoming movie ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, which will be focusing on the issue of erectile dysfunction and how it brings changes to his family life and Prasanna says that the film industry is encouraging him to explore on such unusual subjects. He thinks that such movies are making a difference in the new age audience.
However, the movie is a remake of the Tamil film titled ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’, which was to directed by Prasanna himself. When asked that is it a safe choice to make a debut with the movie “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan”, on this he said, “Well, I think Bollywood has always encouraged experimental subjects. Therefore, films like ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ and ‘Hindi Medium’ have been made and accepted in mainstream cinema of Bollywood.”
Moreover, he added, “Even when I was making the film in Tamil, I knew that the subject of erectile dysfunction has a universal appeal. So when in a conservative environment of Tamil cinema, the multiplex audience received the film well, I realised that the story touched the right notes. So yes, that gave me a certain level of confidence.”
Prasanna says that the Hindi movie is set in Gurugram and the Tamil movie was set in the southern India. According to Prasanna, it is very interesting to see that the film set in a different city so that he can capture the city’s culture, its society, and its texture.
About this R.S Prasanna says, “Making the transition from south to north was not a challenge for me because as a maker, I knew what story I want to tell. I worked with a wonderful team where the producer (Aanand L Rai) and writer (Hitesh Kewalya) are from that part of the country and managed to make their mark. So the collaboration was fantastic.”
“Shubh Mangal Saavdhan” is all set to release on September 1.
