For over two decades an entire nation has lived, loved, rejoiced and despaired along with one man Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin: A Billion Dreams takes you through the journey of the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and shows you how he became one of the most celebrated sportsmen of our country.

This is no over the top story its not a Bollywood biopic either. There is no hunky, good looking A-list actor in starring role. There is no place where fact and fiction merge. Its all true, it is all real. As real as the chants of ‘Sachin, Sachin’ that reverberate through the film. It is a documentary drama which takes the audience back in 90’s because as they are going to witness certain iconic moments that is bought up in a conversations whenever it is spoken about the master blaster.

The movie is a documentary drama which takes us back in time to Sachin’s formative years. The movie witness the discovery of Sachin by his brother Ajit Tendulkar. Knowing the potential his brother had, he recommended his name to Coach Ramakant Achrekar to train him in cricket.

Each person who has lived and experienced Indian cricket in the Sachin Tendulkar era, will get a chance to relive that journey with Tendulkar himself. From his life as the naughty kid playing pranks and being handed his first willow from Kashmir by his elder sister in the Sahawaas society in Bandra, to never seen before images, footage of life in Tendulkar household through this journey, the movie has it all. Rare footage recovered from the maestro’s elder brother Ajit’s cache of recorded VHS tapes, almost forgotten and damaged is there as is the only recorded video of his father, the late Prof. Ramesh Tendulkar speaking about his son. It is above all film that moves you to the core. The audience would think they know everything about the genius cricketer, yet they will discover so much more. His family speaks, as do his friends, teammates and rivals.

Sachin made it to the newspapers by setting a world record of 664 run partnership with co-player Vinod Kambli as batsmen for Shardashram Vidya Mandir in a match against St. Xavier’s during the Harris Shield Cricket Tournament back in 1988. This marked the beginning of the journey of the legend.

On top of that, the audience will be instantly filled with a sense of pride when international personalities like Ricky Ponting talks about the kind of inspiration Sachin was to him. Also, Wasim Akram’s recollection of his first encounter with teenage Sachin will manage to put up a wide smile on the audience’s faces.

Even if you’re not so deeply connected with the sport as we are, it is still recommended to watch this film as it puts across a message that sincere work pays off handsomely in the end.
