Ashutosh Gowariker‘s much-anticipated film ‘Panipat‘ is making headlines ever since its announcement. The magnum opus is made with a grand budget and is a host of great Bollywood actors including Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Kriti Sanon, Now there is another addition to its stellar team – Indian supermodel-turned-actor Sahil Salathia.
Sahil made his debut from Ashutosh Gowariker’s telenovela ‘Everest’, now the actor has been roped in to play the character of Shamsher Bahadur in the periodic drama ‘Panipat’. Shamsher Bahadur was the son of Bajirao and Mastani, who was an intimidating warrior and he played an important role in ‘Third Battle of Panipat’.
Speaking about the latest addition to ‘Panipat’, producer Sunita Gowariker said, “Sahil had left an impression on us ever since he did Everest with AGPPL. We had been wanting to work with him again and this role was a perfect fit for him. Sahil is a talented actor and we are certain that he will do complete justice to Shamsher Bahadur’s character.”
Ashutosh Gowariker’s film is based on the ‘The Third Battle of Panipat’ between the king of Afghanistan and the Maratha forces. The invading army of King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali was supported by the two Indian allies- the Rohilla Afghans of the Doab and Shuja-Ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh. The film ‘Panipat’ also stars Kriti Sanon as Parvatibai (second wife Sadashiv Rao Bhau).
Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar are bankrolling this historical drama which is slated to release on December 6, 2019.
