The Nawab of Bollywood Saif Ali Khan will be seen as the antagonist in the upcoming Indian period drama film ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior‘. The much-awaited historical film is helmed by Om Raut and bankrolled by Ajay DevgnBhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar.

Khan will be seen in the role of Udaybhan Singh Rathod who in the actor’s words, “the character just happens to be on the wrong side”. The actor talked about his role in the film and cleared the air by saying that he is playing the antagonist in the film.

In an interview, he told that the director has done thorough research for the film and all the characters.

He also added that his role required to look leaner and adept in horse riding. He also revealed that he has been working very hard for his sword fighting sequences. The prep for the film has been rigorous, he mentioned.

Udaybhan was a Rajput Sardar who headed the Mughal army and fought against Maratha Army headed by Tanaji Malusare, commander of Maratha ruler Shivaji Maharaj.

The film is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, a 17th-century Maharashtrian military leader in the Maratha Empire.

The film went under post production in 2017 and the principal photography commenced on September 25, 2018. The film is scheduled to release worldwide on 22 November 2019.
