Saif Ali Khan’s Laal Kaptaan looked like an interesting film from the trailer and Saif was definitely impressive in the avatar of naga sadhu. The film did create buzz among the cinema lovers but it has failed to pull the audience to the theaters.

First, the film opened to disappointing numbers at the box office and managed to collect only around Rs. 50 lakhs on its first day. After getting mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike, the revenge saga struggled through its first weekend.

According to a report on Box Office India, the movie has managed to collect only Rs 2 crores as of Monday. The film saw a slight increase on its second and third day with a collection of Rs 60 lakhs and Rs 65 lakhs respectively. The film fell flat on Monday and managed to collect only Rs 25 lakhs.

With no major competition in Bollywood and the interesting and novel story line, it was expected that the film would do well but instead, other films performed better than Laal Kaptaan.

Released on the same day, Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent: Mistress of Evil showed a slightly better performance. The film, that has Aishwarya Rai’s voice in its Hindi version, managed to collect around Rs. 70 lakhs on its first day. The movie almost doubled the business next day with a collection of Rs 1.30 crores. As of Monday, it has collected Rs 4.05 crores.

On the other hand, Vikram Bhatt’s Ghost managed the best growth among the Hindi films on its first weekend. The film that opened to Rs 35 lakhs on the release day managed to collect Rs 45 lakhs and Rs 55 lakhs on its second and third day respectively. As of Monday, the film has done a business of Rs 1.60 crores.

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark and turned out to be one biggest hits of Bollywood.
