It has been over six years since Wanted was released on 18 September 2009. Wanted was also the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year 2009. But the fact that it has been stuck in development hell for just over half a decade means that most fans of the original had given up hope that Wanted 2 would ever actually get to the big screen. According to Wanted’s producers, however, there’s a chance that the sequel could still happen.
The project was stuck in a legal trouble with a party claiming copyright infringement. But the courts have now ruled in Boney Kapoor‘s favour. And matters are proceeding with supreme celerity as far as Wanted 2 is concerned. In fact, Salman Khan and Prabhu Deva recently met and threshed out a basic plot point.
According to sources Salman Khan is very keen on Wanted 2. Wanted which came in 2009 changed Salman’s fortunes. It was his first hit after a spate of flops which had prompted trade analysts to write off his career. Wanted is also special for Prabhu Dheva as it is the first Hindi film he directed.
The producers Marc Platt confirmed that a script for Wanted 2 has been prepared and they are pretty happy with it. However, according to Platt, it sounds as though it’s still being worked on.
