‘Pataakha’ revolved around two sisters in a village, played by Sanya and Radhika, who are always at war with each other.

The Vishal Bhardwaj flick was based on a short story titled ‘Do Behenein’ by Charan Singh Pathik. It was released on 28 September, 2019.

To prepare for the role, Sanya had stayed in a village in Rajasthan to understand their dialect, learnt how to milk buffaloes, plastering walls with cow dungs and walking long distance with a pot on her head.

Sanya made her acting debut with Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Sheikh in the biographical sports film ‘Dangal’. She portrayed the role of Babita Kumari in the film for which she received positive reviews.

She is currently filming Anu Menon’s biographical film ‘Shakuntala Devi’ which is based on the famous mathematician. Sanya is essaying the role of Shakuntala’s daughter, Anupama Banerji in the film.
