‘Padmavati‘ is an upcoming Indian period drama film. The movie is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The movie features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, alongside Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh and Aditi Rao Hydari. According to the recent reports, movie ‘Padmavati’ release has been postponed.
The dates of the movie have been postponed due to the protests in Rajasthan and the movie is not ready yet. However, the major portion of the movie has finished, but there is still some patchwork that is needed and the post production of the movie will take time. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali decided that he will be releasing the movie on a different date for the better execution of the movie.
Sources reveal that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had a deadline on 20 October, but the workers strike took a few important dates and two of the main leads Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor had free dates so they took off on vacations and some big action sequence are still left. Ranveer Singh’s portion as a young Alauddin Khilji, too, remains to be shot.
The makers of the movie have decided that they will be releasing the movie in February 2018. In February apart from Anushka Sharma’s ‘Pari’ no other big movie has been slotted.
About the movie, “Padmavati” will be based on the life of the legendary queen Rani Padmini, which mentioned as a Padmavat. She was a wife of the ruler of Mewar Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. In 1303, the Turkic ruler of the Delhi Alauddin Khilji laid siege to the Chittor Fort in Rajputana. Alauddin invasion motivated him to capture Rani Padmini. In the movie, Deepika Padukone will be portraying the role of a Rani Padmini, where Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing her on-screen husband and Ranveer Singh will be portraying the role of an Alauddin Khilji.
This is the very first time when actor Shahid Kapoor and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali are working together and Shahid is thrilled to work with the director. While Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Goliyon ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela’, and ‘Bajirao Mastaani’.
