Shahid Kapoor’s sports drama Jersey got delayed again. Three days before its release date, the makers decided to postpone the film once again. Now, the film is scheduled to hit the theatres on April 22.
Jersey Delayed To Avoid Clash With Yash Starrer KGF 2
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated cricket drama has been delayed again to avert a clash with the big-budgeted actioner KGF: Chapter 2 starring Yash.
Earlier, the film was postponed due to the pandemic situation, which was scheduled to hit the theatres on December 31, 2021. Then the makers shifted the date to April 14. However, again the film has been postponed to avoid the box office clashes with Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 and Vijay’s Beast.
Shahid Kapoor On Clash With KGF: 2 And Beast
Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 and Vijay’s Beast made the makers of Jersey take a drastic step in postponing the film once again. However, they haven’t made any official reason for the delay.
Blocking April 14 as the date of release, Shahid Kapoor told India Today before the postponement, “It’s a big holiday. A lot of big films can be released on a holiday and I think Beast is largely for a different market. And KGF 2 is an action film. We are very much a family film. So, the genres are very different.”
The actor further added, “It’s always good to have more films during the holidays because people are stepping out more.” Also, co-star Mrunal Thakur said, “We are really spoiling our audience for choices.”

Bollywood remake of the Telugu hit by the same name starring Nani, the film is set to release in Hindi version featuring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in lead. Veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor will also be seen sharing the screen with his real-life son Shahid Kapoor.
Recently, Shahid Kapoor shared a post on Instagram describing how special Jersey is for him as he will be playing the character of a father alongside his real-life father in the film.
Jersey chronicles the journey of a father and a failed cricketer who strives to get back to the cricket field at the age of 36 to fulfil his son’s dream. The film is set to release on April 22.
