We recently told you that actor Rishi Kapoor would soon kick start the shooting of his new film helmed by debutant director Hitesh Bhatia. Now, we have learnt that the film has gotten its title which is Sharmaji Namkeen.
Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment took to his social media account to make the announcement and wrote, “Off screen meethe, on screen Namkeen! When incredible talents like the delightful Rishi Kapoor, the lovely Juhi Chawla, Honey Trehan, Abhishek Chaubey and Hitesh Bhatia come together, excitement is through the roof!”

The film marks Kapoor’s return to shooting after his diagnosis with cancer last year. He spent over 11 months in New York for his treatment and returned to India on 10 September this year. His first release post his treatment would be celebrated Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph directorial The Body co-starring Emraan Hashmi and releasing on 13 December.
Sharmaji Namkeen will also mark Kapoor’s reunion with actor Juhi Chawla. The two have worked together in a number of films including Bol Radha Bol, Saajan Ka Ghar, Ghar Ki Izzat. Their last film together was Abbas-Mustan directorial Daraar that came out in 1996.
Produced by Excel Entertainment (Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar) in collaboration with MacGuffin Pictures (Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey), the film is expected to come out in cinema halls in 2020.
