Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd, a very well established integrated media content house in India, has finally given its statement regarding the release of its very own streaming application. This new platform is expected to rival Netflix in terms of vastness in library as well as popularity after its expected release within the next 6-9 months. The Mumbai based company, however, is resolved to not let itself turn into a form of Indian Netflix Inc, and establish its position as a better native streaming platform all over India.

Established back in 1962 as a mere book circulating library, Shemaroo retains the rights to over 3500 older Bollywood films, which serves as its main source of income alongside the high advertising revenue acquired from around 40 YouTube channels. In an interview in Mumbai, Hiren Gada, CEO of Shemaroo Entertainment announced that his company intended to utilize the best opportunities existing in today’s market, and grow its revenue fivefold within five years. Shemaroo’s goal is to offer all kinds of services on all platforms all over the world, positioning it in direct competition with many local and international streaming companies like Netflix itself.

Gada also claimed that his upcoming application would be vastly different from Netflix in terms of both better online platform maintenance as well as imposing controlled spending on content. Shemaroo intends to increase its movie catalogue by at least 5% per year, and is thereby inclined to reach out and licence its library to other online platforms. Within the next 18 months, the library of Shemaroo Entertainment is expected to expand to such a great extent, that Hiren Gada is confirmed that they will be able to outsource their streaming platform in a monetized catalogue which will definitely ensure seamless streaming without any hitches.
