Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra announced his upcoming film Shikara- A Love Letter From Kashmir earlier this month. The film was supposed to hit the screens of cinema halls on 21 February 2020.

As per the latest development, the film’s release has been preponed and now the film is expected to release on 7 February next year.

The makers took to social media to make the announcement and wrote, “#Shikara – A Love Letter from Kashmir advances its release. It will now hit theatres on 7th February, 2020. A film directed by #VidhuVinodChopra. Produced by Vinod Chopra Productions. Presented and co-produced by Fox Star Hindi.”

The shooting of the film reportedly began in March 2018 in Kashmir. This is not the first that Vidhu Vinod Chopra is making a film involving Kashmir as one of the major elements in the theme. He had earlier helmed the action thriller film Mission Kashmir in 2000.

While not much is known about the film, some reports suggest the story of this new project was written by Vidhu alongside a local Kashmiri writer. It has also been reported that the film will feature a number local popular faces like Zameer Ashai, Shahid Gulfam and Imran. The leading man is reported to be from Bhopal and the young actress is apparently from the Bhaderwah area of Jammu region.

Directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Shikara: A Love Letter From Kashmir is presented and co-produced by Fox Star Studios.

Meanwhile, the filmmaker recently celebrated 30 years of Parinda by sharing videos and clips from his iconic film that came out in 1989. Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, and Madhuri Dixit starrer is considered as a landmark film that redefined the portrayal of underworld in Hindi films.
