Actor Sanjay Mishra, carrying forward the UP government message celebrating a “Divya Kumbh, Bhavya Kumbh”, recently shot a short film for the UP Police for the Kumbh Mela 2019. The short film adds to the UP Police’s message of making it “Surakshit Kumbh”. More than 12 crores pilgrims are expected to come to Prayagraj and witness Mahakumbh and the film showcases the efforts being put by the police to ensure safety and security of all so that no one faces any difficulty while they are in the land of Sangam.

Talking to the Times of India, Mishra said, “The promotional video is all about making the Kumbh a secure one for pilgrims and tourists. I feel that the fair, which is one of the biggest in the world, can be a grand affair only with the help of the citizens. The efforts being put in by UP Police to make the Mela safe and no one faces any problem. I felt really proud to be part of such an initiative.”

Two films are being made and the first one, titled ‘Kumbh In Making’ was shot at the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Kumbh Mela area and the temporary police lines set up there. Some portions are recorded at the Qila Ghat and at Sangam.

The film will also feature SN Sabat, ADG, and Nitin Tiwari, SSP, Prayagraj, and it will be shown in theatres across the country.

“It’s incredible the way the state police is gearing up for the Mela. One can approach them for anything during their stay at the Mela,” says Mishra. He will be seen giving information about the police duty and how they could be of help.

Om Prakash Singh, Director General, UP Police, says, “The entire idea to make a film on ‘Kumbh In Making’ by UP Police is to showcase our preparedness for a Surakshit Kumbh. The film will give a sense of assurance to millions of pilgrims coming for Kumbh-2019 from all across the world that UP Police is thoroughly prepared for their safety, security, and convenience and make their visit a memorable experience.”

“We shall also be making a short film when the actual Kumbh begins which will show our police in real action, and also use of our high tech resources in the crowd management and safety there,” he adds.

Rahul Srivastav, ASP Technical Services of UPP and the scriptwriter of the film, talks about why they choose Sanjay Mishra for their film, “We (the UPP) is making two films on Kumbh to show what all preparations are being made to make the fair a hassle-free place which is safe and secure. We roped in actor Sanjay Mishra because he gets in with our film’s theme. The way he portrayed his character in the film Masaan was very real and we wanted someone who’s natural, relatable and identifiable to convey the message that we want to give out to people that the UP Police is there to provide any kind of help to anyone visiting the Mela.”
