Shraddha Shashidhar : Indian contender for Miss Universe 2017!

Recently, Miss World Manushi Chhillar earned the title of Miss World 2017 at a star-studded event which was held in China. Now, it is a time to root for Shraddha Shashidhar, who represented the country India at the Miss Universe 2017 competition, which held in Las Vegas. In the competition, she competed against the 92 contestants which were from the various other nations and despite this, she has also participated in the three sub-contestant which includes National Costume, Swimsuit Competition, and the last one was the Evening Gown.

Recently, South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has been announced as the winner of Miss Universe pageant which held in Las Vegas. However, Miss Colombia became the first runner-up followed by the Miss Jamaica who becomes the second runner-up.

Shraddha Shashidhar represented the country India but unfortunately, she could not able to make it up to the 16. The people were having a high hope for the 21-year-old. People were expecting her to bring home the crown of Miss Universe after the Lara Dutta did in the year 2000.

There were total 92 candidates who participated in the event and this is the very first time when we have seen the representatives of Cambodia, Laos, and Nepal taking part in the pageant for the first time. However, in the National Costume competition, she chose to symbolize the love and purity in the form of Radha. In that costume, Shraddha chooses the outfit which was designed by the Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Melvyn Dominic Noronha for the competition.

There are a lot of things that you need to know about Shraddha Shashidhar, she was born in Chennai and she did her schooling in the Army Public School, Deolali, Nashik and later she enrolled herself in the Sophia College for Women, Mumbai and she is having a degree in the Mass Communication. Shraddha is 21 years old as she was born on September 3, 1996. Shraddha is a trained classical dancer and she loves to travel and she has also taken the noble task of teaching the Tibetian refuges at the Lha charitable trust.

She was crowned as the Miss TGPC (The Great Pageant Community) contest which happened in Pune on September 3, 2017. It is more of an online Beauty Pageant competition which was conducted by the group since 2015. Later, In Mumbai, she was crowned as a Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva Miss Universe India 2017 by the ongoing title holder Roshmitha Harimurthy and along with the reigning Miss Universe of France, Iris MittenaereLater, she represented the country India at the Miss Universe contest, which was held by The AXIS, Las Vegas, Nevada on November 26, 2017. However, Shraddha Shashidhar failed to place in the final cut. 

However, she emphasized the importance of the unity and on the diversity. She says that she believes in a moto that says ‘One Home, One Family’. She says that she got to travel a lot and that has really helped her to adapt and to become accepting of a lot of new cultures and the people. However, she feels that the traveling to a different regime will also help the one to understand the different prospectives and along with that you got to learn the different cultures in a better way and will also help in breaking up the barriers and the differences.

The competition of Miss Universe started with the 92 women and they were divided into those belonging to America, Europe and Africa and Asia Pacific. The event was held in the AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood casino-resort in Las Vegas. Later, the competition narrowed down to 16 and there are women from Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ghana and South Africa were chosen from the Africa and Asian Pacific region, thus leaving out the Chennai-born model, Shraddha Shashidhar.
