Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur is planning to make a movie on a true story which will be based on Somalian pirate attack. According to the recent reports, he has signed the director Vinil Mathew and the screenwriter Sudip Sharma for a dramatic thriller and which is inspired by the true events surrounding a pirate attack of the Somalian coast.

The movie is said to be produced under the Roy Kapur Films banner. However, the movie is inspired by the true story of the merchant navy officer Audumbar Bhoi and his ship and the crew was attacked by the Somalian pirates.

About the movie, Siddharth even said that the movie is based on a very unique and exciting subject and his banner’s team has been developing for many months. It is based on the thrilling, dramatic and an emotional journey and the movie will be directed by the director Vinil Mathew and he says that according to him there is no other better director who can tell this story.

The movie will be showing the true events which involve piracy on the Somalian high seas and it is told through that the eyes of a young Indian merchant navy officer and that will be navigating it through unimaginable perilous circumstances while dealing it with the huge personal challenges.

Moreover, he said that having  Sudip on the board as the screenwriters for the movie is a huge advantage for the makers of the movie. He feels that he unfailingly creates a memorable character that inhabits them in an authentic world and it is the process that creates strong conflicts and riveting drama.

The director Vinil Mathew is very well known for the new-age romantic drama ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ and as far as the Sharma is concerned he is the acclaimed writer of NH10 and the movie titled ‘Udta Punjab’. Vinil says that when the Siddharth came up with the story and he shared it with him. He instinctively knew that he had to be associated with the movie as the movies have all the right ingredients of emotions, thrill, and drama.

However, Sharma said that when he is normally wary of writing commissioned scripts for the producers as it is different for the Kapur as he allows the creative freedom. He says that when he pitched the story to him and he just jumped at it because he has the potential to be a tense hostage drama cum the survival story. and he has let you explore Somalia and the maritime piracy and this movie would be showing a world hitherto unseen in the Hindi Films.

The makers of the movie say that from the past few months there is an intensive research that is in the Indian merchant navy life as well as on the Somalia piracy problem and the impact on the many Indian families have been affected by it and this all has been the underway. According to the reports, the movie is likely to go on the floors in the second half of 2018.
