After days of preparations and sending invitations, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja have finally tied the knot. The couple had been in a committed relationship for over two years, and the Kapoor and Ahuja families could not have been happier to give them their blessings.
The wedding took place on the 9th of May at Sonam’s aunt’s mansion in Rockdale, Bandstand. The marriage was a close affair, attended by friends and relatives of the bride and the groom. The Kapoor-Ahuja marriage was held as per the Sikh traditions of Anand Karaj, with the Guru Granth Sahib having been specially imported from Amritsar’s Golden Temple to Mumbai, in order to let the newlywed couple receive their blessings from their Lords.
From Instagram updates by the several attendees, most of the wedding pictures have been revealed to the public. Sonam Kapoor was photographed wearing an elegant golden and red lehenga, custom designed by the famous Anuradha Vakil. She also wore a few magnificent necklaces and chokers, complete with a dazzling matha patti on her head.
The groom, on the other hand, was dressed in an opulent beige bandhgala which was custom made by designer Raghavendra Rathore himself. Mr. Rathore also sponsored the clothes for the bride’s father and brother, with Anil Kapoor sporting a dignified off-white kurta, and Harshavardhan Kapoor looking exquisite in a pink kurta, with a casual grey jacket on top.
The wedding, following traditional Sikh rules, did not call for a mandap. Physical attendees have confirmed that the marriage took place in the living room, where the couple recited their wedding vows. Following the wedding, the Ahuja-Kapoor family took their guests to The Leela, where an extravagant reception was held celebrating the wedding of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja.
