Abhishek Chaubey directorial ‘Sonchiriya‘ has been granted an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film’s producer said on Friday that three changes have been made as suggested by the censor board.
Ronnie Screwvala was present at the promotional event of the film. Here he told the reporters, “The film is censored, the obstacle has been cleared. Let’s not look for controversy. They (CBFC) loved the film and they had three suggestions and that is it. The film is set in a path. There were no issues.”
Director Abhishek Chaubey said, “There were no issues and problems. The film has been censored and is releasing with an ‘A’ certificate.”
The director has delivered some critically acclaimed films like ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Dedh Ishqiya’. He admitted that he feels the pressure of delivering good content to the audience.
“That kind of pressure is there but I don’t think about it. Filmmaking itself is too tough but the focus is on getting it right. I have people around me who are honest and critical about my work,” he added.
Ronnie’s last release ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ emerged as a monstrous hit and became the first mid-budget movie as the blockbuster of 2019.
He said, “Each film has its own karma and destiny. For everybody this film is special. It is a cult film in many ways. It is a genre-breaking movie. The audience will slowly grow to like the film. We are very confident about the film.”
It is an Indian crime directed by Abhishek Chaubey. The movie is set in 1975 in Chambal, The movie revolves around Sushant Singh Rajput and Manoj Bajpayee leading a bunch of bandits struggling to make a decision about surrendering to the cops. ‘Sonchiriya’ showcases a small town ruled by dacoits where multiple-gangs fight over to attain power.
The film is slated to release on March 1.
