After having released blockbuster movies like 102 Not Out and Padman earlier this year, Sony Pictures India has already acquired the official rights to create a biopic based on the life of renowned cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Jhulan plays for the Indian national women’s cricket team in an all-rounder position and has led One Day Internationals to conquer the title of the highest wicket-taker in the world. Sony Pictures India is expected to collaborate with Dunamis Entertainment to develop and release the film at the earliest notice.

The movie is set to cover all the sides and phases of Goswami, starting from her birth in the Nadia district of West Bengal, to her rise to take in international women’s cricket. Most of her achievements, like winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Year in 2007, and the M. A. Chidambaram Trophy in 2011 for Best Women Cricketer are also expected to be showcased and glorified in the upcoming movie. Complicated moments and all her other hardships which have not yet been publicized are also going to be highlighted in the movie.

The official Twitter account of movie critic and analyst Taran Adarsh announced the initiation of the project by tweeting a picture of Jhulan Goswami and captioning it with the latest news. No further details about the movie have been revealed yet, although fans have already begun assuming which roles might be played by which famed actors in the biopic.
