Bong Joon-Ho’s Parasite was loved by audiences worldwide resulting to which the film also won the Academy Award for Best Picture. The story of Parasite brought tears into our eyes, the way the story was conveyed with sincerity and reality, it was bound to win hearts. In a similar way we will be taking a look at another one of Bong Joon-Ho’s films, ‘Memories of Murder’ a thriller which can be considered as one of the epic ending shots any movie ever had.

Based on a true story of serial killings, in a small underdeveloped town of South Korea, Memories of Murder is an experience filled with suspense. And the film stands out due to Bong’s style of filmmaking as he never underestimates the roots of a story and in a similar way he shows various arcs from the life of two cops investigating the case played by Song Kang-ho and Kim Sang-Kyung. The roots make the characters strong and as a viewer, it keeps you aware of why the things around are the way it is.

Resulting in which, the film has a greater impact on Korean cinema and also it’s civilization as it very well defined the world of crime in the nation and the development of technology in forensic science. And the most important part of the film is its ending part with no resolution. After a lot of effort, the cops do unfold the mystery but due to lack of evidence, they fail to catch the culprit. And that’s an ending with no resolution which makes it a masterpiece in itself with Bong Joon-Ho defining a new way of storytelling.
