The National award-winning director is all set to make a biopic on Swapna Barman, who is the first Indian heptathlete to win a gold medal in Asian games in 2018. Sohini Sarkar is roped in to play the challenging role of the gifted sportsperson. The actress will soon prepare for the role in rigorous workshops to prepare for the inspirational role.

“Swapna is not only the pride of Bengal but has also made the nation proud with her achievement at such a young age after enduring so much. The film will focus on her life, her struggles, and her achievements,” Mukherji told IANS.

Swapna Barman is an Indian heptathlete, who won a Gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games. The heptathlete hails from Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. Barman won the prestigious medal at the age of 21. Swapna has been training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre since 2012.

She is unusual in having six toes on each of her foot. Barma overcame several obstacles throughout her sporting career. Swapna made India proud on International grounds through her immense dedication and hard work.

The biopic will be helmed by Srijit Mukherji and is produced by eastern Indian production company SVF.
