Disney’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has stormed the box-office, grossing so far $258.9 million domestically and $259.9 internationally, making a total net collection of $516.8 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film registered overwhelming numbers on Christmas eve and collected $32 million on the day of celebration. It is the second best collection for Christmas behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens which had grossed $49.3 million.

The final film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy has been receiving mixed reviews from critics for its pacing and deviation from theme and story of its last film, the 2017’s The Last Jedi

On the other hand, Greta Gerwig’s period film Little Women, which released on Christmas, has grossed $6.4 million on its opening day.

Safdie brother’s crime film Uncut Gems, which has received critical acclaim, has earned $5.9 million, which is the biggest opening for its production house, A24.

Fox and Disney’s animated spy comedy film Spies in Disguise, has also grossed an estimated $4.8 million at the box-office.

Meanwhile, Tom Hooper’s musical fantasy Cats, has proved to be a box-office bomb, grossing only $16 million on a massive production budget of approximately $100 million.
