Whether you are a film buff or not, one thing you’ll agree with, is that the experience of watching films in theatres is irreplaceable. Even though, several OTT platforms have emerges over the years, they certainly lack the feel and charm of theatres. Everyone wants to watch their favorite star on the big screen. It is indeed a euphoric experience.

South cinema which has one of the biggest stars of India, is not ready to release some of their big budget films on OTT platforms. They are patiently waiting for theatres to reopen.

Vijay, who is arguably the biggest star of South Indian cinema, is waiting for the release of his upcoming film ‘Master’. Even though many films opted for release on OTT platforms due to the Coronavirus induced shutdown of theatres, the producer of the film has refused to release it on any OTT platform.

Xavier Britto outrightly refused its OTT release, since the film is made on a huge budget. In an interview with Vikantan, he said :

“Vijay is very clear about it. He wants Master to release only when theaters reopen. It could be this Diwali or next Pongal.”

As per the trade experts, if any big budget film chooses to release on OTT, it’ll only be able to recover 30 percent of its cost. This option is not viable, even though many mid budget and small budget films have released on OTT platform.

The film is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is only two films old. Apart from Vijay, the movie will also star Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj. While, Vijay Sethupathi is the man who is going to play the antagonist in the highly anticipated film.

If and when theatres get open, Vijay’s Master is sure to wreack havoc at the box office and draw audience in large numbers to theatres. His fan following is already unparalleled.
